We are glad to invite young people from Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia to participate in film workshops:

 

- duration: 21 – 26. 02. 2012

- young people at age 17 – 23

- number of participants: 10 people from each country

 - The participants will be working in 4 international teams (each of 10 people). Every group led by an instructor (director, operator, editor) will be able to explore all the stages  of film making and realize its own picture that will be presented at a festival in „Lot” cinema on 26 February 2012.

- one group will be creating a clay animation. If you are interested in this technique, just note ANIMATION in your application form.

 - the workshop will be delivered in the English language

 - the participation in the workshop is free from charge; the organizers cover the cost of the classes and stay (accomodation, full-board, festival atractions); the journey cost is covered by the participant;

- it is recommended to have previous experience in film making, yet it is not a compulsory condition;

workshop's leaders:

MONIKA KUCZYNIECKA

Author of animated films and music videos, artist, independent maker. In 2002 she graduated from National High School of Fine Arts of L. Wyczółkowski  in Bydgoszcz. In 2002-2007 she studied at the Academy of Fine Arts (Faculty of Multimedia Communications- major: animated film). She directed the music video: “Bang, Bang” by Voo Voo, “Escape from amusement park” of Czesław Mozil and also illustrated the cover of the album “Pop”. The winner of various film festivals in the Poland. In 2010 was awarded the Independent Discovery Award of the Year by Stopklatka portal and Kino Polska channel.

 

PIOTR MATWIEJCZYK

Star of the Polish Off scene and one of the hardest working men in the Polish film industry. He is the author and co-author of about 150 independent films. A director, screenwriter, editor, sometimes cameraman, actor, the production supervisor and the producer. He`s been involved in film industry since 1992. He started the adventure with his brother Dominik. Together they made the classic horror film series “Videomania”. He`s the cofounder of Muflon Pictures movie company in Wrocław (2001), where one of the first pictures made was a feature film „Chinacity”, where the director himself, putting on a hat, played the main role of Jack Nicholson. He also directed other comedies: „I Know What You Did Last Winter”, „Weasels And Badgers”, „Emilia” and many other short films. Then he departed from comedies to make dramas and social theme movies, like: „Homo Father”, „Beautiful”, „Shame”, „Do You Remember Me?”, „Barefoot”. Then he came back to comedies, and the result is the film awarded at festivals - „Buy Now”. With the film „Sad One” he began to cooperate with Weronika Rosati who became the coproducer of another comedy „Piotrek the 13th”.

 

MARTIN ŠVOMA

He graduated from film studies at the Charles University in Prague, received a scholarship at Freie Universität in Berlin. Scriptwriter, director, editor. Connected with numerous TV stations: Z1 TV Prague, the Czech Television, HBO Czech Republic, DaDa, s.r.o., Pra-ga, Aelita, o.s., Praga, TV NOVA, TV Prima, the producer of a film channel “Mysteries of Eastern Galactic”. The author of various publications devoted to film industry, e.g.: „Karel Vachek etc“ (a monography about a Czech documentary filmmaker), “The Lexicon of the Worldwide Cinema”, he cooperates with magazines devoted to the cinema. Lecturer at the Charles University in Prague and at Prague Film Academy.

 

VIERA ČAKÁNYOVÁ

She studied scriptwriting at the Academy of Performing Arts (VSMU) in Bratislava and documentary directing at the Academy of Performing Arts (FAMU) in Prague. Her student films were shown on several international film festivals and were awarded several prizes. With her film “100 days” she was awarded the Grand Prix of Early Melons International Student Film Festival in Bratislava and Golden Dinosaur at Etiuda & Anima Festival in Krakow (2010). In 2010 her film “Alda” won Regard Neuf award at the festival Visions du Réel in Nyon and Golden Key award at Kassel Documentary Film and Video Festival. Besides preparing her new films, Viera also works as a dramaturgist on different independent projects and shoots documentary films for non-profit organizations and TV.
 

ÁKOS MESTER

He is an independent motion picture producer, works as director, cameraman and editor since 2004. After finishing the Secondary School in Austria he studied at POLIFILM School in Budapest. Later he also worked as a teacher (post production, camerawork) in this institute, and in 2010 he became president of the POLIFILM WORKSHOP FOUNDATION. He was participant, and later organizer of many film workshops and short film festivals in Hungary, the Czech Republic, Romania, Germany, Finland. His passion is super 8 and working with vintage cameras, and from 2009 he is also a big fan of HDSLR filmmaking.
